Nails of the Week: My Neighbour Totoro and Studio Ghibli movies

This week I decided to attempt Totoro on my nails. So I looked for inspiration on Google and found this:

So I took my brushes and sat down for another backbreaking session of nail art. It took me almost two hours of meticulous work and here's what I got!
As you can see, I did my own take of the design.
Index finger: Totoro's ears and eyes, the little black dots are soot sprites flying in the background. This was something I added on a whim because I had some grey left and didn't want to waste it.
Middle finger: Chibi-Totoro. Don't be deceived, this was actually pretty hard to paint even though you may think it's just all white. Precisely because it's white, it requires more work to get it opaque.
Ring finger: Soot sprites! Also modified the design from the photo I googled. My boyfriend says this is his favourite one! I made him watch Spirited Away with me last month and the soot sprites were in that movie too. I quite enjoyed painting their little eyes, it was like giving life to little black dots.
Pinky finger: A soot sprite under a leaf. The leaf could have been a little better if I had an even thinner detail brush but it's okay.
I do love these well-known animated movies from Studio Ghibli and of course the famous Hayao Miyazaki, the father of these works. He's a genius and such a remarkable artist for creating all those works of art.
My favourite movie of the bunch has to be Grave of the Fireflies.
It was released in 1988 but I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend you watch it if you can get your hands on it. No matter how many times I watch this, I never fail to cry really badly. If you're someone who likes sad movies like the Titanic then hello we can be movie-buddies.
This movie is probably the saddest movie I've even watched! I get really emotionally attached to characters when I watch movies and when something tragic happens my heart breaks and I won't be able to control my tears. I won't spoil the movie for you so just watch it if you can!
I feel like this movie never gets as much attention as My Neighbour Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle or Ponyo. Probably because it was from 1988. I wish more people would watch it and love it!
I also love.. The Cat Returns!
For obvious reasons. Anything with cats gets my attention. Which may be strange that I have yet to watch Kiki's Delivery Service. The Cat Returns is a tale about friendship and I really do enjoy seeing so many cats in it. Adorable!
Alright, I apologize this post went from bring a nail post to a movie post but hey, I'm just over-zealous about Studio Ghibli's productions. I wanna go to the Studio Ghibli theme park in Japan! I will someday! It'll be like a dream come true and I'll never wanna leave ❤

Random photos of my favourite ramen at Ajisen from last week, because I'm hungry in the middle of the night and would almost kill for this. It is so yummy. And in recent months I've really come to love sushi. I'm still not touching the raw stuff yet but my favourite are dragon rolls from Sushi Tei. Mmm. #foreverhungry
Don't those dragon rolls look good? This was from a few weeks back, when B and I went to JEM for the first time. So happy we now have a Sushi Tei branch in the west. My belly is a fan. I also really love their ramen.
Speaking of food in the middle of the night, it reminds me of something. But it makes me sad. Promises are probably just words tied with a bow. They look fancy but that's about it I guess :(

Just spent some time adding more stuff here. Now comments are possible under each post and I also have a favicon now! I like to think I'm quite a tech-y when it comes to HTML, after all I have made my own blogskins before when I was 14, even though they look somewhat amateurish now that I think about it. Whatevs. At least I'm pretty good at tweaking HTML, which is how this blog looks the way it looks right now.
Having a migraine and my eyes are so, so tired. Also emotionally exhausted as today has been quite a day. A lot of stuff on my mind and feeling a little upset by today's saga but it is what it is. I will wake up feeling better tomorrow. So.. Goodnight!
Nails of the Week: Shappo and Toto

Haven't done nail art in a while! As I recently fell in love with Sentimental Circus characters especially Shappo, I decided to paint Shappo on my nails.
I had to paint them upside down because there was so way I could turn my hand around and have it lie flat on the table at the same time so I just had to paint them upside down.
It's a lot more tiring than it seems! I had to mix the colours (which I could have made lighter but it's okay) and then adjust the consistency and paint the intricate details while holding my breath. My hands were trembling but I think my first attempt wasn't too shabby at all! Also decided to paint Toto on my pinky nail.
Now the only problem is I don't know how I can ever bear to remove what I have on my nails. This is too cute! I keep staring at Shappo, he just makes me so happy I don't know why.
What I should my next nail art project be?

Sometimes I really wonder what humanity has become. In this generation of technology, people seem to have lost their conscience. Just because we choose to put ourselves on the Internet, does that give people the right to anonymously say disrespectful things to you? Just because it's the Internet where people can easily have any kind of identity they want or have none at all, does that give them the right to do that?
You don't go up to someone in real life and disrespect them with rude comments about their lives. So why would you do that online? Just because you can? Just because nobody would find out who you are? That's utterly selfish and disgusting. Have you ever thought about the feelings of that person? He or she could be going through something in their lives and just because they choose to leave the reasons out, you just assume whatever you want and judge them on it?
It makes me sad, very sad. It is moments like this that make me understand why my sister did what she did. Humans are so cruel. I really respect people who live very public lives, where all day long they have to deal with haters and have to brush off negative comments on a daily basis. It takes so much to be able to not take those disrespectful comments to heart and just do what you do. Why do people think they have the right to be mean to you just because they don't have to deal with the repercussions? Just people nobody will ever find out it was them who did it? Just because they don't have to see the hurt on that person's face?
Why can't people be kind? Where has kindness gone? How do people sleep at night knowing they've done something with the intention of hurting someone? How would you feel if someone did that to you? It makes me really sad to think that people can do such things without even batting an eyelid. What goes around does come around, I hope you know that.

Been sneezing all night. It really sucks. Took a pill for it but it's not working. I'm trying to sleep but the heat isn't helping with the sneezing at all. I'm trying to have happy thoughts so here's a list of things that I want to eat, though I won't be able to have most of them any time soon eith because I can't get them or because B's having a little surgery next Wednesday :(
• Creme brûlée
• Creme caramel aka Flan (never had but need to try)
• Starbuck's Christmas special Peppermint chocolate stack. Damn it this was THEEE best thing ever.
• P.S Cafe's Butterscotch banana cake
• Cupcakes from Twelve Cupcakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
• Seafood Tom yum penne and cheese sticks from Pastamania!!
• Dragon rolls and spicy ramen from Sushi Tei even though I did say I got a little sick of sushi this month. Apparently not.
• Chilli cheese fries from Carl's Junior
• Squid ink Fettuccine with crabmeat from Valentino!!
• Seafood aglio olio from TCC!!
• Tom yum woon sen and otah and MANGO STICKY RICE!! From Thai Express. Omg. Mango sticky rice.

• Flamin' Hot Cheetos. Tragedy of my life. Why I no live in USA? Why you no sell Flamin' Hot Cheetos in Singapore? The original flavour is awful.
Okay that's about it for now. I know it is an extensive list of cravings but I am very hungry right now. And yes a lot of the stuff are sweet and probably all of them are unhealthy but I have a major sweet tooth. B agrees that probably every one of my teeth is a sweet tooth that's why I love dessert and sweet stuff so much. I'm a baby! :p
That was a good distraction. I've stopped sneezing. Now I can sleep. Teddy smells like B and that makes me miss him incredibly :( Goodnight.

I miss you! I'm looking forward to our movie date on Friday! We haven't gone for a movie date in a long time. I can't even remember the last movie we went to catch. Hope the popcorn on Friday night is extra crunchy and warm and sweet! Sounds like you! Hehe.
I miss staying over with you already. Before this past week, I hadn't stayed over in months. It's almost June already. I don't know when will the next stayover be :'( Especially since next Wednesday it'll be your operation. We won't be able to do many things while you're recovering. And I will have to go home myself too. I don't want to go on Saturdays without you. I can't leave you alone at home. Please let me be there with you on Saturdays :(

Happy Birthday to the most wonderful soulmate/partner/boyfriend/husband I could ever ask for. Thank you for being my sanity though sometimes you do bring me insanity :P Just a wee bit though! I still love every single bit of you to pieces. Sometimes I really do complain about stuff but really, I don't think I could ask for more in a partner-for-life. You love me like no other person can. Even through times when I seem like a difficult person to love. The past two days have been amazing and I really love falling asleep in your arms, waking up in your arms, and being wrapped in your arms while I'm sleeping. I just have one regret. I would give anything to go have that late night walk with you right now. I told you a nap was a bad idea! >:(
